The college is a part of the Nehru College of Education and Charitable Trust and it has many courses in fields like aeronautical engineering, business, civil engineering, computer science and engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, applied science and humanities. JCET is affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and was earlier affiliated to the University of Calicut. 

The motive of the college is clearly mentioned in their memorandum that states that they want to be the one stop destination for the students to obtain multi disciplinary domain knowledge. They aim at promoting curiosity for the intellectual properties by providing outcome based education o the students. 

JCET has a tie up with many reputed institutions which helps it to enhance the skills of the students by providing them with relevant employment related skillets. The college has a high number of technically advanced machineries that helps the students to find proper solutions to societal problems.
